Upset Stomach Remedies

There are a number of upset stomach remedies that can be accomplished at home without costing you anything at all. Drinking a carbonated beverage can help by making you burp to relieve gas. If gas needs to be relieved another way, make a trip to the bathroom. If a trip to the toilet does not work, lie down on your back, stretch out, relax, and rub your stomach. Remember to keep your feet higher than your body by putting pillows under your feet or laying them on the arm of the couch.

Drinking an herbal tea can help to aid in digestion, which helps to calm down stomach pain. Heat can be used for temporary relief, either by using a heating pad, hot water bottle or filling an old sock with rice and putting it in the microwave for a minute or so to heat up. When using a rice sock, you do not have to worry about forgetting to turn off any electricity, as you do with the heating pad. Remember that you could also relax in a warm soothing bath.

Another upset stomach remedy is to place a cool moist towel on your forehead while laying down and just relaxing. Be sure to eat a few crackers, pretzels, or nacho chips. These types of food will help to absorb acid that is in your stomach that may be causing pain. While sitting down, pull your knees to your chest for a few minutes and then stretch out your legs slowly.

If you know that certain types of food disagree with you, avoid them in the future. If you are not sure, keep a record of what you ate that may have caused a stomach ache, and then try that food again. If it causes pains, then you know to refrain from eating it.

Upset stomach remedies for children can be a very simple solution such as having them drink plenty of water, ginger ale, or flat cola. Choose yogurt as a regular staple in your child’s diet to help eliminate stomach ache problems. Some home remedies will be difficult for children to take, so try having them eat some fruit such as bananas, peaches or applesauce.

Eat a little something as a remedy for upset stomach when taking medications, even if it is only a few pretzels, crackers or a piece of toast. As on last tip, try sucking on a cough drop or vitamin C drop to help calm down a stomach ache and help you to relax.
